Terms of service
These terms govern access to Unit, including the website, dashboard, connected messaging channels, and related services. By signing up for a workspace, you accept them on behalf of the business you represent.
Eligibility
To sign up, you must be at least 18 and authorised to bind the business you represent. Unit is intended for businesses of any size that need to handle customer conversations across messaging channels. It is not for personal use.
The service we provide
Unit provides:
- A multi-channel inbox connecting WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, email, SMS, and a website chat widget. Channel availability evolves over time; channels are clearly marked "live" or "coming soon" on the marketing site and in the dashboard's connect wizard.
- An AI agent that replies in the Customer's brand voice based on the products, brand persona, and knowledge entries each Customer adds to their workspace. Depending on the Customer's configuration, the AI can reply autonomously, detect customer intent, capture lead or order details, complete routine requests, and escalate to a teammate when it cannot safely continue.
- Team workflow tools: assignments, private notes, per-channel access, owner / admin / agent roles, and basic reporting.
We add features, change the UI, and adjust the AI model over time. We'll do our best not to remove anything you depend on without warning.
Beta period
Unit is in private beta. While in beta:
- The service is offered free of charge, with the caveats below.
- Some features are partially built or behave like preview surfaces. We'll mark these clearly.
- We may pause, change, or remove features as we iterate. We'll give reasonable notice.
- When we exit beta, we'll publish pricing at least 30 days before charging existing Customers and honour any beta-pricing commitment we've made in writing.
Accounts and access
You're responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure (use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor when we ship it).
- Inviting only people you trust to your workspace. Owner and admin roles can connect channels, see messages, and remove teammates.
- All activity under your workspace, including by your teammates and any AI replies or actions the AI agent performs under the settings you configure.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Unit for spam, mass unsolicited messaging, scams, fraud, or any activity that violates the policies of the messaging channels you connect. Their policies may be stricter than ours, and a breach on their side may interrupt that channel.
- Send content that's illegal, sexually exploits minors, harasses, defames, or otherwise harms others.
- Reverse-engineer the service, attempt to bypass rate limits, or use the API in ways that could harm Unit or other Customers.
- Use Unit to message people who haven't opted in per applicable law (GDPR consent for EU End users, TCPA for US SMS, etc.). The legal basis for messaging your customers is yours to maintain; we provide the rails.
We may suspend or terminate workspaces that violate these rules. We'll usually contact you first unless the violation is severe.
Customer data
You own the data you put into Unit — your products, your knowledge entries, your contacts, your conversations. We store, process, and back it up so we can run the service for you, but we don't use it to train general-purpose AI models or share it with third parties beyond what the privacy policy discloses.
You can export or delete your workspace data at any time. Deletion completes within 30 days; backups expire within 60 days of the original delete.
AI outputs
The AI agent replies and acts based on what your workspace has trained it on, including products, knowledge entries, brand persona, and conversation context. It is a tool — not a substitute for human judgement. You are responsible for what your workspace sends to your customers, including autonomous AI replies, lead capture, request handling, and escalations.
We don't guarantee the AI's output is accurate, complete, fit for any particular purpose, or free of mistakes. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or other regulated advice.
Third-party channels
When you connect a channel (WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.), you also accept that channel provider's terms and policies. Channel providers can suspend, throttle, or cut off access to their service for reasons outside our control. When that happens, Unit will show the issue where possible, but cannot override the provider's decision.
Pricing
During beta, free as described above. After beta, we expect to offer a small per-workspace subscription with usage-based add-ons. We'll publish a clear pricing page before charging anyone and give at least 30 days' notice of any future price change.
Service availability
We aim for high availability but don't commit to a contractual SLA during beta. Routine maintenance windows are kept short and announced in advance where possible. Status updates live on our status page.
Termination
You can close your workspace at any time from the dashboard or by emailing [email protected]. We can terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms, non-payment (post-beta), or where required by law. On termination, your data is deleted as described above.
Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is capped at the greater of (i) the amounts you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (ii) USD 100. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Accra, Ghana, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction apply.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
