Add a payment method for WhatsApp broadcasts
Your WhatsApp number can be connected to Unit while Meta still blocks paid template delivery. Add a payment method to the messaging account for that number before sending a broadcast.
Set up billing in Meta
- Sign in to Meta Business Suite with an account that can manage your business's WhatsApp billing. Select the business portfolio that owns the number connected to Unit.
- Open Settings → Billing & payments → Messaging accounts. You can also open Meta's Billing & payments page directly.
- Find the messaging account for your WhatsApp number. Choose Add payment method, complete the card and business billing details, then save. If it says View details, open it to check the existing payment method and any failed charges.
- If you cannot find Messaging accounts, open Settings → Accounts → WhatsApp accounts, select the account for your number, and choose Payment settings. Meta may show this route instead.
- Return to Unit. Use an approved WhatsApp template for a small test campaign, then check each recipient's delivery status in Campaigns.
Adding a card for Meta ads or to the Unit wallet does not automatically attach it to your WhatsApp messaging account. Check that the payment method is shown on the account for the number you send from.
Who charges you?
Meta bills your business's WhatsApp account for applicable template messages. Its amount depends on message category and recipient country. Unit quotes its separate broadcast fee in your wallet before you confirm a campaign. The Unit quote does not include Meta's charge.
Unit cannot reliably verify your Meta payment method before sending. A campaign may start and individual recipients may later fail if Meta rejects payment. Review the recipient results, then fix billing in Meta before trying again.
If messages still fail
- Check that you selected the correct business portfolio and WhatsApp messaging account.
- Open View details in Meta and clear any declined or outstanding payment.
- If Unit shows error
131042for recipients, check Meta billing first. Meta can report this failure after a broadcast has started. - After correcting payment, send a small test and check its recipient statuses. If it still fails, email [email protected] with the campaign name and failure code. Do not send card details to Unit.
Meta's own WhatsApp payment method guide may require you to sign in.
